Working at Ooh! Events has given me the opportunity to learn the different sides of the design process. As a company, we make all the invitations and written material, design and make many of the specialty decor items (such as table runners and party favors), and have our wonderful floral department.

Having this floral department has given me the opportunity to learn about many different plants and flowers. One that is cool but never receives any credit are succulents. These plants retain much water and are able to survive in the most difficult climates. So again sticking with the holiday theme, I thought I would share some cool projects one can do with succulents.

This is a single succulent placed into an ornament with some moss to decorate the remainder of the ornament. How super easy and fun is this? And it makes a perfect holiday gift for someone who is impossible to shop for.

This next photo is a succulent wreath which looks hard but I promise it isn’t! All you need to do is get a green floral foam wreath ( which you can find at a craft store such as Michaels) and then soak the foam in water and place the plants on the foam. You might have to dig a little hole into the foam but the roots will quickly grow. To be extra safe, you can even put some floral pins or wire to keep the succulents stable. But remember not hang the wreath up right away because one must make sure the roots have fully growth.

This is another perfect gift for the holidays and the best part is – succulents last all year.
